31.03.10 - International acclaim for ASC role in Klimahaus project

Amptown Systems Company has scooped a top award in the event technology sector for its creative contribution to the Klimahaus® in Bremerhaven. The Sinus Systems Integration Award 2010, recognised as the sector's "Oscar", will be awarded on 24 March to ASC project manager Michael Staats during the international Prolight + Sound trade fair in Frankfurt.



Presented as part of the Media Systems Prolight + Sound event, the Sinus Awards recognise extraordinary and creative use of integration and media technology in the venue, entertainment, business and information categories. The Sinus Award in the information category goes to ASC for the installation of sophisticated audio, lighting, video, media and control systems for Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° Ost. The Klimahaus® offers a comprehensive and interactive presentation of the science behind the climate, climate change and climatic zones. Four exhibition areas, The Journey, The Elements, Perspectives and Opportunities, document the influences of climate change and the way of life of people and animals along the 8° East meridian.



Life along the meridian is packed into 5,000 m², enabling visitors to experience the world through the eyes of the people in the various climate zones between the poles - from a farmhouse in the Swiss mountains, via a herb-rich meadow in Sardinia, the Nigerian desert and the jungles of Cameroon to Antarctica, then back to Bremerhaven via the Pacific island of Samoa, Alaska and the North Sea island of Langeness.



The multitude of different scenarios demanded meticulous planning and precise installation of technical fittings from ASC. It is the technology that really brings the extraordinary scenes and exhibits in the Klimahaus® to life and gives the visitor an authentic experience of climate science.



Through the Sinus Award, the jury comprising representatives of the Professional Lighting & Sound Association of Germany (VPLT) and the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC), as well as experts, representatives of the trade press and Messe Frankfurt has honoured ASC's ambitious achievement.

Climate change and how to combat it are hotly debated topics, both nationally and internationally, but reliable information is often in short supply. This award also recognises the commitment of the developers of the Klimahaus®, Petri & Tiemann. Their aim is to provide scientifically supported answers to climate questions and thus heighten understanding of the factors that determine the climate.
